Mounting location:

The Selector is designed for panel mounting in any enclosed location. Exterior mounting is not recommended unless the Selector is housed within a waterproof enclosure with suitable sealing glands.

Orientation should be such that the ‘vent’ is on a lower edge. If inverted mounting is imperative, eg. under a coachroof, Selectors can be supplied to special order with an alternative ‘vent’ position.

Knob removal and refitting:

Carefully lift off the cap, loosen the exposed screw, and pull the knob off. Ensure the spindle is clean and grease-free then refit by pushing the knob onto the spindle whilst holding the screw firmly in so that the spindle enters the collet while it is extended from the knob. When fully on the spindle, tighten the screw and rotate the switch fully anti-clockwise, loosen the screw and align the pointer with the OFF position; finally tighten the screw and replace the cap.

Wiring:

Use 0.25 inch crimp receptacles to connect the battery supply and each navigation lamp to the blade terminals as labelled. If a bicolour lamp is used in lieu of separate port and starboard lamps, connect it to either the port or starboard blades and leave the remaining blade free.

Protection:

In order to protect the wiring, switches, etc. and guard against fire risk in the event of a short circuit, each navigation lamp needs to have a fuse or cut-out incorporated in the positive wire adjacent to the Selector. The rating chosen must be low enough to give protection but not so low as to incur an unacceptable voltage drop. The Selector will be adequately protected if the following ratings are not exceeded:-

Fuses not greater than 20 Amps.

Cut-outs not greater than 15 Amps.
